When Hydes Brewery needed a complete re-think of its beer line, ‘The Beer Studio’, we presented a vibrant new approach… Following a competitive pitch, we took Hydes Brewery’s dedication to experimentation and innovation to a new level with a complete rebrand of their popular cask ales range – “The Beer Studio”. Our winning concept tapped into the world of art and creativity to provide infinite naming and design opportunities as the range advanced. To infuse The Beer Studio with a creative essence, we took inspiration from creative swatches, works of arts and current trends. Crafting beer is an art in its own right and blurring the lines between different art forms helped us create a distinctive appearance. In addition to the revitalised brand, we were also responsible for the design of pump clips, marketing collateral and digital assets for the refreshed Beer Studio range, which launched in January 2019. You can find our continued work for their 2020 range here. We devised a suite of exciting and unusual names, including Wildfire, Honeybrew and Dawnbreaker. The names sit alongside captivating artwork for each cask ale in the range. The design relates to the beer through its colour, flavour, ingredients, aroma and brewing process. These unique names stand out and provide a conversational piece at the bar. We’re incredibly proud to continue the work we’ve been doing with Hydes Brewery for the last six years and love having them as a client. Paul Holmes, Marketing Manager, Hydes Brewery commented: “Jam truly demonstrated their passion for the brand and their winning concept provided the powerful impact we were looking for, whilst honouring the experimentation and innovation we apply to the production of the cask ales in the Beer Studio range.” The reinvigoration of the Beer Studio range is just one of many creative projects we’ve undertaken with the independent Salford-based brewery over the past six years. We conceptualised and branded Hydes’ Abel Heywood pub and boutique hotel, based in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Our creative included its full suite of marketing collateral, winning us Best Print Design at The Drum Awards 2015. Additionally, we devised and created the brewery’s Kansas Avenue Brewing Company range. Following the American craft beer movement, this range is stylish, contemporary and all names relate back to the great state of Kansas. Throughout the years we have also been responsible for the branding of a number of other of Hydes’ managed and tenanted pubs in the North West and North Wales, such as The Robert Gillow in Lancaster, The Coach & Four and Camerana in Wilmslow, The James Watts in Cheadle, and The Red Lion in Leek. It’s a great accolade to work with such a high profile and leading hospitality business. We’re thrilled to continue to develop our relationship with Hydes Brewery. Our ongoing creative concepts will ensure the products reflect the energy and passion of the business. We’re passionate about highlighting the unique character of the Beer Studio range. We have a wealth of experience in the food and drinks industry, including TV chef, James Martin’s online home delivery service, Life, Fork, Spoon, as well as HM Pasties, Gilberts Foods, EHL Ingredients and Lancashire Tea.
