Easter is one of our favourite times of year. It gives us a long weekend, time to spend with loved ones and an excuse to eat chocolate! It’s also one of the best times of year for crazy PR stunts – here are a few of our favourites.
The Loch Neggs Monster
Cadbury is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to British chocolate. This is why it’s no surprise that when it comes to the sweetest day of the year, Cadbury goes all out.
In 2016, the brand kicked off its Easter campaign in style as they put three double decker bus-sized eggs in the famous Loch Ness. The three giant eggs, all in a Cadbury purple, popped out of the water like bumps of the mythical Loch Ness Monster, and it certainly stood out!
This year Cadbury has been fighting an Easter social media battle after customers mistakenly believed they have removed references to Easter from their packaging. Cadbury’s social media team have been busy letting everyone know that they’ve actually redesigned their packaging this year with more prominent references to Easter. They will have definitely earned their bank holiday weekend off!
Carlsberg don’t do chocolate bars…
Beer brewer Carlsberg put its own stamp on Easter by unwrapping a chocolate bar. Not your run-of-the-mill bar, but a giant pop-up pub made entirely of chocolate!
With half a tonne of chocolate, Carlsberg created a fully-functioning bar, complete with chocolate glasses, a dartboard and classic football moments. Everything but the beer was made from chocolate. Sounds like the perfect place to spend an Easter Sunday!
Dr Oetker’s Bunny Bums
The baking brand celebrated their Bunny Bum cupcakes in a very unique way. They spent over 100 hours creating a 7ft tall Bunny Bum and took it on tour. Thousands in Manchester and London saw the giant edible installation as the Dr Oetker team handed out cupcakes to passers by.
The Creme Egg Mojito
While we’d never turn down a delicious Creme Egg or a mojito, we don’t know how to feel about the two combined. Luckily, Jewel Bar gave us the chance to know for sure when they launched the calorific combo in 2013.
Whether you thought the creation was sickening or sweet, the bar received a lot of attention over the Easter weekend as chocolate and alcohol lovers flocked to try it for themselves.
